At some point, every woodworker has either forgotten to wear appropriate safety equipment, or they've simply justified a reason why they shouldn't wear it. Something like, "It's only one cut. I'll be fine."

Maybe it's a case of Murphy's Law, but that seems to be when I run into trouble. Fortunately, I had a close call that didn't cause much more than a healthy scratch, but was about 2mm from what could have been a life-altering injury - an injury that could have been easily prevented by wearing appropriate safety equipment. It definitely taught me the importance of wearing appropriate safety gear, even for seemingly mundane tasks.
